Medicare Health Insurance

Labels:

Medicare is one of the biggest benefits offered to retired individuals. After all, this type of coverage is not based on medical condition but instead age. Any individual who receives Social Security will automatically become enrolled in Medicare when they hit the age of 65. If you decide to delay your Social Security benefits until after 65, make sure that you still enroll in Medicare. Those who are automatically enrolled in Medicare will receive a notification in the mail from the Social Security Administration.

No matter where you live or who you are, as long as you are 65 you can get Medicare. This holds true no matter if you have a current health insurance Chicago policy, or do not have any coverage at all.

Coverage
With Medicare you will receive different levels of benefits. Medicare Part A is hospital insurance and Part B is medical insurance. Additionally, Part C allows you to select from several types of plans.

Medicare Part A
Generally speaking, this is known as hospital insurance. Part A will cover services that are associated with inpatient hospital care. Additionally, Part A will also cover home health care and hospice if necessary.

Medicare Part B
Medicare Part B is called medical insurance because it covers other medical care. This includes physician care whether received at a doctor's office or hospital. Also, lab tests, physical therapy, and ambulance services are also covered.

Medicare Part C
The 1997 Balanced Budget Act expanded on the available options to include savings accounts, private fee for service plans, and managed care plans. Part C programs are offered in addition to the options that are available under Part A and B.
